Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida (AAASWFL) is a nonprofit organization serving older adults and adults with disabilities. They are committed to connecting older adults and adults with disabilities to resources and assistance for living safely with independence and dignity.
AAASWFL is the state’s designated Aging and Disability Resource Center for SWFL. They provide information and resources for seniors and adults with disabilities. They also help their families and caregivers.
AAASWFL provides programs and services that help older adults and adults with disabilities to live as independently as possible.
- The Elder Helpline: The helpline is the starting point for finding aging, disability, and caregiver resources. The goal is to help callers find the help they need to live safely and independently.
- Home and Community-Based Care: These government-funded home and community care services are designed for eligible adults age 60+ and adults with disabilities. These programs allow people to live independently in their own homes.
- SHINE Medicare Counseling: SHINE counselors help seniors navigate Medicare and make informed decisions about coverage.
- Health and Wellness: These programs are designed to help other adults (60+) through education and activity.
- Elder Abuse Education and Prevention: This program is designed to increase awareness of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. They also provide elder abuse education training to area seniors and caregivers.
