Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) was founded in 1967 with the mission to protect and care for southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems through their focus on Water Quality Research, Policy and Advocacy, Sea Turtles and Shorebirds, Native Landscaping, Habitat and Wildlife Management, and Environmental Education. SCCF is the largest private landowner on Sanibel Island, managing more than 1,200 acres and more than 600 additional acres on surrounding islands.
One way SCCF fulfills its mission is through education and programs. The Education Department consists of Sanibel Sea School, Coastal Watch, Native Landscapes and Garden Center, Ocean Tribe Paddlers, traditional SCCF programs, and various adult environmental courses and lectures. Their education department aims to bring people closer to nature and inspire change.
Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems have been heavily impacted by Hurricane Ian, but SCCF’s commitment and resolve to their mission remain steadfast. We at Soukup Strategic Solutions are grateful to SCCF for their leadership role in safeguarding our region’s water quality. In light of the challenges they have faced with the hurricane, we have selected them for a community service project. We are honored to give back by providing strategic planning service pro bono. We can’t wait to see what opportunities they uncover in Ian’s wake and what they envision for their future!
